The Interregnum is over
Thursday 25th April 2013 was a very important day for our church; the interregnum was officially over and a new era started.
Fr Adrian Pearce from Jersey was licensed as Priest in Charge of S. Ambrose and S.Francis and Fr David as Associate priest (0.5) of the two churches but with special responsibility for S.Francis.
Fr David is our Parish Priest.
The two churches were packed. Officiating were Bishop Norman (Bishop of Richborough) and Bishop Jonathan (Bishop of Southampton), the Achdeacon of Bournemouth - Revd Peter Rouch and the Area Dean, Revd Andy McPherson. The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth were present together with Councillor John Adams.
The Superior of the Community of the Resurrection, our patrons, in Mirfield, Yorkshire, - Fr George Guiver - travelled down for the service.
Other local Christian churches were represented by Revd Margaret Evans, URC. The Head of the Bishop of Winchester Academy and the Deputy Head of Bournemouth School were also present together with about 20 robed priests.
The service started at S. Ambrose where Frs David and Adrian visited the font (commitment to renewal and growth) and the pulpit (commitment to the word of God) before listening to a sermon given by the Bishop of Richborough and the licensing.
The congregation then moved to S.Francis where the choir sang 'A prayer of St Francis' by John Sanders as the procession entered. Commitment to prayer and unity then followed.
Frs David and Adrian were welcomed by the Archdeacon, the Area Dean, the deputy Mayor of Bournemouth, the representative of another local Christian church and the superior of the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield .
The choir sang the Te Deum - Charles Villers Stanford in B flat - which illustrated the excellent acoustics of the church .
The evening ended with wine together with a magnificent spread of different cheeses, a variety of breads and biscuits and platters of fruit, all very welcome, and a good opportunity to meet the guests.
We greet Frs David and Adrian with joy and thanksgiving for their ministry
