DIARY for the month of May 2008

Sunday 4 May THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD
Today we rejoice not just because Jesus has completed his work on earth and returned to the glory of heaven, but equally because we are destined to share in his glory. In the words of today’s opening prayer: "May we follow him into the new creation, for his ascension is our glory and our hope." There will be the usual masses at 8.00 am and 10.00 am.

Thursday 8 May
7.30 pm Meeting of PCC Standing Committee.

Sunday 11 May PENTECOST or WHITSUNDAY
It was the Holy Spirit who brought the Church into existence in the first place. It is the Holy Spirit who incorporates us into the Body of Christ in baptism, and who enables us to be the Church in our own day. We are sent out by Jesus in the power of the Spirit to be his witnesses and to do his work.
8.00 am Low Mass;
10.00 am Procession and Solemn Mass.

Wednesday 14 May
7.00 pm Low Mass followed by first meeting of the new PCC. Members please note.

Sunday 18 May THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
The young people of our uniformed organizations will join us at the 10 am parish mass. Later there will be a parish lunch to raise money for Christian Aid. Watch the news-sheet for details.

Wednesday 21 May
11.00 am Mass for healing, with the laying on of hands and sacrament of anointing.
7.00 pm Vespers of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction; especially for CBS members, but all welcome.

Sunday 25 May CORPUS ET SANGUIS CHRISTI: THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
All too easily we take God’s gifts for granted. This is our opportunity to thank him for the gift of the Blessed Sacrament, and to renew our faith in Jesus who is the living bread and who nourishes us day by day on our journey through life. The 10 am Mass will conclude with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. (NB There will be no evening service today.)
