At the Summit of Everest

James Hooper, grandson of St Francis member Bärbel Copus-Lange, and his friend, Rob Gauntlett, were climbing Mount Everest and raising funds for Cancer Research.

Aged 19, they became the youngest Britons ever to reach the summit.

Starting from Base Camp on 10 April 2006, they planned to ascend the world's highest mountain in May coincidentally at around the time of our 'Fan the Flame' week.

They took with them to the summit our Mission Prayer as a text message on their mobile 'phone.
