Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Bournemouth

The Cross - Tuesday Evening

The aim of this evening was to explore the meaning and significance of the death of Jesus and the way it transforms our relationship with God.
To encourage a spirit of repentance in those who attend, as well as a desire to forgive others.
And to help the congregation to understand and experience the gift of forgiveness which Jesus has entrusted to his church.

During the evening, a very powerful 'Litany of Repentance' was read by two of the lay coordinators.

As people entered the church at the beginning of the evening, they were handed the day's Hymn sheet, and invited to chose a stone from a pile on a table. After the teaching by the missioner, at the end of the evening, members of the congregation were invited to come forward to place their stone at the foot of the cross, as a sign of their desire to repent and lay down their burdens before the Lord.
